Xbox Game Pass October 2026: 9 Additions, Battlefield 6 and Which Tiers Get Them

Microsoft’s October 7 Game Pass update lists nine games arriving between October 8 and October 16, 2026. Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass are listed for all nine. Game Pass Premium is listed only for Neon Abyss 2, while Game Pass Essential is not listed for any of the nine incoming games.

Seven of the nine are explicitly labeled as day-one Game Pass releases. Battlefield 6 arrives on October 13, but it is not one of those day-one titles.

Microsoft also lists an Asphalt Legends in-game benefit and several already-available games in separate sections of the same announcement. Those are not extra entries in the nine-game Coming Soon list.

Which Game Pass plan gets all nine games?

Both Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass are listed for every game in this nine-title batch.

The difference is where and how you can play.

PC Game Pass covers the PC versions. Microsoft’s current Game Pass guidance says cloud gaming is not included with PC Game Pass, so a row that lists both Cloud and PC should not be read as a PC Game Pass cloud-streaming entitlement.

If you plan to stream a Game Pass title instead of installing it, see IGZ’s Xbox Cloud Gaming hour-limits guide for the announced November allowances and questions that remain unresolved. The proposed limits concern cloud playtime, not games installed locally.

Game Pass Premium is listed for only one of these nine games: Neon Abyss 2.

Game Pass Essential is not listed for any of the nine incoming games. Microsoft does separately list the Asphalt Legends in-game benefit for Essential, but that is a benefit rather than a new catalog addition.

Microsoft also warns that Game Pass titles, features and availability can vary by region, plan and platform. If a game does not appear in your local library on the listed date, check the current Game Pass catalog for your region.

Battlefield 6 joins Game Pass on October 13, but it is not a day-one release

Battlefield 6 is the biggest existing release in this batch. Microsoft lists the full game for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on October 13 across Cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

It is not a day-one launch. EA released Battlefield 6 on October 10, 2025, and Microsoft’s October 7 Game Pass post does not apply its day-one label to the game.

That distinction matters because several other October additions are launching directly into Game Pass. Battlefield 6 is joining the subscription catalog roughly a year after its original release.

Microsoft also highlights EA Play benefits for Battlefield 6, including the EA Play Deployment Pack, the Season 5 EA Play Pack and recurring seasonal rewards.

Those benefits are separate from the main Game Pass eligibility row. For the full-game subscription question, Microsoft’s answer is straightforward: Battlefield 6 is listed for Ultimate and PC Game Pass on October 13.

PC Game Pass includes EA Play, but not cloud gaming

Microsoft’s current Game Pass plan material lists EA Play as part of both Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Microsoft’s October 7 Battlefield paragraph explicitly calls out Ultimate, but it does not separately map every EA Play reward to every Game Pass plan.

The same Game Pass guidance says cloud gaming is not included with PC Game Pass.

So if you have PC Game Pass, read Microsoft’s platform labels carefully:

• PC means the PC version is included
• Cloud is a separate supported platform label
• PC Game Pass itself does not add cloud streaming

Cloud access depends on a cloud-enabled Game Pass plan, the title’s catalog availability and your region.

The distinction is easy to miss because Microsoft places platforms and subscription tiers on the same game entry without mapping each platform to each plan.

Seven of the nine additions are day-one Game Pass releases

Microsoft explicitly gives the day-one label to:

• Echo Weaver
• Forever Ago
• Deep Dish Dungeon
• Valor Mortis
• Bluey’s Happy Snaps
• Chained Beasts
• Beyond These Stars

Microsoft does not use the day-one label for Neon Abyss 2 or Battlefield 6 in the October 7 announcement.

That is why the safest count is seven day-one releases, not nine.

Which October games are optimized for handheld play?

Microsoft marks two games in this batch with its Handheld designation:

• Valor Mortis
• Bluey’s Happy Snaps

Xbox says the Handheld label identifies games optimized for handheld play.

That label should not be turned into a broader compatibility claim. A game without the Handheld tag may still run on a handheld PC. It simply does not carry Microsoft’s optimization designation in this announcement.

Nine games also leave Game Pass on October 15

The additions arrive during the same week that Microsoft removes nine other games from the catalog.

That departure list includes Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Pacific Drive, A Plague Tale: Requiem and six more titles.

Instant Game Zone tracks the removal dates separately because Microsoft’s Xbox Wire and Cloud surfaces still disagree by one day for several of those games. See the full Xbox Game Pass games leaving October 15 guide if you are deciding what to finish or buy before access changes.
