The Crew Motorfest on Switch 2: 1080p/30 FPS, Cross-Save, DLC Transfer and Online Rules

Ubisoft has confirmed the Switch 2 launch details for The Crew Motorfest: 1080p at 30 FPS, cross-save support, limited cross-play, Game-Key Card format, DLC transfer rules and a persistent internet requirement.

The Crew Motorfest launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 8, 2026, and Ubisoft has now published the final launch FAQ. The biggest unknowns are resolved: the game runs at 1080p and 30 FPS in both TV and Handheld Mode, supports cross-save and cross-progression, uses a Game-Key Card for the physical edition, and still requires a persistent internet connection.

The most important ownership detail is less friendly. Your Motorfest progression can follow your Ubisoft account to Switch 2, but content purchased through another platform store does not transfer. If you bought DLC on Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store or Steam, Ubisoft says you need to buy the relevant content again on Switch 2 to use it there.

Primary sources: Ubisoft Switch 2 FAQ and Nintendo Switch 2 listing.

What resolution and frame rate does Motorfest use on Switch 2?

Ubisoft now gives a direct answer: 1080p at 30 FPS in both TV Mode and Handheld Mode.

That replaces the earlier pre-launch uncertainty around 30 FPS, 60 FPS and resolution targets. Ubisoft does not describe a separate performance mode or quality mode in the final Switch 2 FAQ.

This is an official target, not an IGZ benchmark. Real-world frame pacing, image reconstruction, dynamic-resolution behavior and heavy-scene performance still require independent testing after launch.

Does Motorfest support cross-save and cross-progression on Switch 2?

Yes.

Ubisoft says the Nintendo Switch 2 version supports Cross-Progression and Cross-Save. You need to use your Ubisoft Account so your progression can continue across supported platforms.

That makes Switch 2 useful as a second platform for an existing Motorfest player who wants to keep the same progression.

But progression and purchases are separate.

Do DLC and other purchases transfer to Switch 2?

No.

Ubisoft’s final FAQ explicitly says content purchased through another platform’s store does not transfer to Nintendo Switch 2. It names Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store and Steam.

If you own DLC on one of those platforms and want to access the same paid content on Switch 2, Ubisoft says you need to purchase the relevant content again on Switch 2.

This is the key buying rule for existing players: your progress can move, but your platform-store purchases do not.

Does Motorfest have full cross-play on Switch 2?

No. Ubisoft says the Switch 2 version does not support full cross-play.

Some competitive features are still shared across platforms. Ubisoft specifically lists:

  • Grand Race
  • Demolition Royale
  • Summit Contest Leaderboards
  • Event Leaderboards

TrackForge content is also cross-platform. Tracks created by the Motorfest community can be discovered and played regardless of the platform where they were created.

This means “Motorfest supports cross-play” is too broad for Switch 2. The more accurate description is limited cross-platform participation in selected activities and shared community content.

Do you need Nintendo Switch Online?

You need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership for multiplayer features such as Crewing, Grand Race and Demolition Royale.

That is separate from Motorfest’s always-online requirement. Ubisoft says a persistent internet connection and Ubisoft Account are required to play the game at all, even if you are not using multiplayer at that moment.

Nintendo’s current product page also lists Online Play and Save Data Cloud support.

Can you play The Crew Motorfest offline on Switch 2?

No.

Ubisoft’s final Switch 2 FAQ explicitly says a persistent internet connection is required.

Ubisoft has previously discussed a future offline mode for Motorfest, but that future plan does not change the launch requirement. The Switch 2 version should not be treated as an offline portable racer.

Is the physical edition a normal game card?

The physical Switch 2 edition uses a Game-Key Card.

Ubisoft says the card requires a download to install the game. It is not a complete on-card physical release.

Nintendo currently lists the game at 58.5 GB, so available internal or microSD Express storage matters even for physical buyers.

Can you import your The Crew 2 vehicle collection?

No.

This is one of the clearest Switch 2-specific exceptions in Ubisoft’s final FAQ. Collection Import from The Crew 2 is not available on Nintendo Switch 2.

That differs from the broader Motorfest feature set on other supported platforms, so existing The Crew 2 players should not assume their imported vehicle collection will appear on Switch 2.

Which Year Passes and DLC are available at launch?

Ubisoft says these are available at launch on Nintendo Switch 2:

  • Year 1 Pass
  • Year 2 Pass
  • Year 3 Pass
  • Chase Squad DLC Pack
  • RC Frenzy DLC Pack
  • Tomb Raider: Secrets of Ni’ihau DLC Pack
  • currency packs

The associated content for those products is also available.

However, the Year 4 Pass and all car packs are not available at launch on Switch 2. Ubisoft says potential availability will be announced later.

That is important because Year 4 begins immediately before the Switch 2 launch. Do not assume every Year 4 paid product available on another platform can be bought on Switch 2 on day one.

Are the Free Trial and Friend Pass available?

No.

Ubisoft says neither the Free Trial nor Friend Pass is available on Nintendo Switch 2 at launch.

Does Switch 2 receive future Motorfest updates?

Yes.

Ubisoft says future game updates will release on Nintendo Switch 2 at the same time as on other platforms. Switch 2 players are expected to receive new Seasons, features and free game updates alongside the rest of the Motorfest community.

What arrives with Season 11?

Switch 2 launches directly into Season 11 and the start of Year 4.

Ubisoft’s Season 11 material includes the free Kaua’i island and Kaua’i Expeditions Playlist, the paid Tomb Raider: Secrets of Ni’ihau DLC experience, new vehicles, wildlife, TrackForge additions and other seasonal content.

The timing gives new Switch 2 players a much larger version of Motorfest than the original 2023 launch game, but the Year 4 Pass itself is not available on Switch 2 at launch.

Should an existing Motorfest player buy the Switch 2 version?

The strongest reason is portable access to your existing progression.

Cross-save and cross-progression mean you do not need to start your Motorfest progression from zero. That is a meaningful advantage for an established player.

The trade-offs are now much clearer:

  • 30 FPS rather than a confirmed 60 FPS mode
  • persistent internet requirement
  • no full cross-play
  • no transfer of paid content purchased on other platform stores
  • no The Crew 2 Collection Import
  • no Free Trial or Friend Pass
  • Year 4 Pass and car packs unavailable at launch

If your main goal is continuing your existing progression on a portable device, the Switch 2 version now has a clear case. If you own a large DLC library elsewhere or expect full platform parity, the purchase is less straightforward because you may need to buy content again and some products are not available at launch.

What should a new Switch 2 player know?

For a new player, the version arrives with a large established game, current seasonal content and future update parity with the other platforms.

The main restrictions are connectivity and platform-specific feature gaps. The game needs a persistent internet connection, multiplayer needs Nintendo Switch Online, the physical release still requires a download, and Switch 2 does not receive every ownership or cross-platform feature available elsewhere.

Bottom line

The Crew Motorfest launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 8 with a much clearer technical and ownership picture than we had before Ubisoft’s final FAQ.

The Switch 2 version runs at 1080p and 30 FPS in both TV and handheld play, supports cross-save and cross-progression, requires persistent internet access, and uses a Game-Key Card for physical copies.

The biggest warning for existing players is that paid content bought through another platform store does not transfer to Switch 2. Your progression can move, but your purchases do not.

Cross-play is also limited rather than universal, and The Crew 2 Collection Import, Free Trial, Friend Pass, Year 4 Pass and car packs are unavailable on Switch 2 at launch.
