Legacy Games Is Closing: What to Download Before February 2027

Legacy Games closes its store on December 31, 2026, and game downloads end February 28, 2027. Here is what to know about codes, Luna claims and installed games.

Legacy Games is closing its PC game store, leaving customers with two different deadlines. December 31, 2026 is the cutoff for new store purchases, eligible code redemptions and unused membership rewards. February 28, 2027 is the last day the company says its launcher will download and install games that customers already own.

Already-installed games are expected to remain playable afterward, according to Legacy Games. But once downloads shut down, uninstalling a game could mean losing the ability to get it back. That makes it worth checking your library now rather than waiting until the final week.

The three dates that matter

  • December 1, 2026: The last Game of the Month is added for the older Superheroes and Ultimate Heroes membership tiers.
  • December 31, 2026: The online store closes. The company says disc download codes can no longer be redeemed, unused points and rewards expire, and Hero Club memberships and benefits end. Amazon Luna promotional PC game codes redeemed through Legacy Games also need to be redeemed before year-end. Individual Amazon offers may have their own claim windows, so check each offer rather than waiting for December 31.
  • February 28, 2027: The last day to download and install games in the Legacy Games Launcher. The company says its website and servers will close, although games already installed should remain playable through the launcher.

These dates come from the company’s official closure FAQ. Legacy Games has not specified an exact cutoff hour or timezone on that page, so do not leave an important redemption or installation until the last moment. It says only a single website help page will remain from January 1 through February 28, 2027, making account and code issues worth resolving before the store closes.

What you should do depends on how you got the game

You purchased games directly from Legacy Games

Open the official Legacy Games Launcher with the account you used to buy the games. Check your Game Library for anything you still need to install. The company’s general support guide says installed titles appear under Games, while titles not yet installed appear under Install.

Install the games you want to keep while the download service is operating, and confirm they open successfully. If purchases are missing, check that you are using the correct account and billing email before making any changes to installed software. The support guide says purchases can be associated with the billing email used at checkout.

Do not delete a registered Legacy Games account as part of preparing for the closure. The company says account deletion permanently removes access to purchased games and order history and may affect refund requests. This warning concerns registered accounts; the company says Luna-only promotional redemption does not necessarily create one. See its account and refund support.

Your physical Legacy Games disc came with a download code

The company says codes from eligible physical discs, including those sold through Amazon or Walmart, must be redeemed by December 31, 2026. Follow the redemption link printed on your disc, apply the code as directed and refresh the launcher to confirm the game pack appears. Then install any downloadable games by February 28, 2027. Having a disc does not mean every game in a large pack is stored on it: Legacy Games says some packs require separate downloads.

If your disc has no code or its code does not work, contact Legacy Games support before the redemption deadline. The company’s retail-disc help section says it can help verify certain older discs.

You claimed Legacy Games titles through Amazon Luna promotions

These redemptions need their own check. Legacy Games says promotional claims can be connected to the email address used to redeem the code, without automatically creating a password-protected Legacy Games account. Its help page says a Luna-only claimant can enter that email address in the launcher to access redeemed games.

Check the email used for each promotion, make sure the code was redeemed before the end of 2026 and confirm the corresponding game is available to install. If you have changed email addresses or used several, do not assume your games have moved to the new account. Legacy Games asks affected customers to contact support about transfers or account merging.

This guidance concerns Legacy Games PC titles redeemed through Amazon Luna promotions. It does not establish that Amazon Luna’s separate cloud-streaming games can be downloaded or preserved through this launcher. Amazon also distributes PC claims through other providers. Its October 2026 announcement lists Time Travel: Escape Room Game as a Legacy Games code scheduled for October 22, while other titles use GOG, Epic Games Store or the Amazon Games App. Check the actual redemption provider for each offer.

You are a Hero Club member or have points and rewards

Legacy Games says memberships, points and unredeemed rewards end on December 31, 2026. Superheroes and Ultimate Heroes members receive their last Game of the Month on December 1. Check and redeem eligible rewards while the store is open, then install the games you want to retain before the February download deadline.

The general rewards help page still contains older statements about points and reward expiration. For the shutdown, follow the newer, specific dates in the closure notice instead.

Will installed games still work after February 2027?

Legacy Games says yes, provided they are already installed. From January 1 through February 28, 2027, its launcher is meant to continue downloading, installing and playing games customers already own, while purchasing and other store features disappear. After that, the company says downloads and installations will stop but installed games will remain playable.

That is the company’s stated plan, not a guarantee that every game, launcher configuration or future PC will work without an online service. Its public closure FAQ does not explain whether you can copy an installation to another computer, reactivate it after reinstalling Windows, preserve it with an offline installer, or recover games following a failed drive.

Compatibility is a separate concern from download availability. Legacy Games’ support page says most of its games run on Windows 11 but acknowledges performance issues reported for some Domini titles. Its store product pages also warn that some games may not be Windows 11 compatible. A game that is installed successfully today is not automatically certified for your next PC or Windows installation.

The publisher’s Launcher page still advertises offline library access and says games can be recovered after a computer failure. Those general descriptions do not explain how recovery would work after the download servers shut down. Copying a game folder, keeping save files or relying on an old disc is not a verified, universal replacement for a working installer.

If you need a reliable backup or plan to replace your PC, contact Legacy Games support at customerservice@legacygames.com or the additional company-listed address legacy95@gmail.com for guidance about your particular games. The closure FAQ explicitly invites backup questions and says support is available during the transition, but it does not promise service after February 28. Ask before uninstalling or resetting anything.

A warning about uninstalling and reinstalling

Legacy Games’ general support material sometimes tells customers to uninstall older copies and reinstall through the Launcher when titles do not appear correctly. That becomes especially risky after February 28, 2027, when the company says its download and installation service will be disabled. Even before that date, do not remove a working installation until you have confirmed you can reinstall that specific game.

The company’s support pages have displayed different launcher version numbers. At this research checkpoint, the official Launcher download page and its September release announcement list version 1.19.2, but the current version can change. Check the download page itself rather than relying on an older support snippet.

Older Windows PCs have an additional launcher risk. The download page lists Windows 7 and 8 in its system requirements, yet the company’s dedicated Launcher Help page says version 1.19.2 was not built for operating systems older than Windows 10. It suggests an older build for those systems, but the general support FAQ warns that older launchers may not access giveaway games. If you use Windows 7 or 8, ask support which launcher can access your particular games before changing a working installation. This conflict is not resolved by simply downloading an old installer.

The practical checklist

  1. Identify all Legacy Games purchases, physical-disc codes, promotional claims and membership rewards you want to keep.
  2. Redeem unused codes and eligible rewards before December 31, 2026, preferably earlier.
  3. Sign in using the correct purchase or promotional redemption email and check the Game Library.
  4. Install the games you care about before February 28, 2027 and check that they launch.
  5. Before changing PCs, reinstalling Windows or uninstalling a game, ask Legacy Games about title-specific backup, recovery and Windows compatibility. Do not assume copying folders will work.
  6. Keep any registered account intact and retain purchase records. If a redeemed title is missing, check the original account or promotional email and contact support during the transition.

The distinction to remember is simple: redeeming a game and installing it are two different steps with different deadlines. Legacy Games says games left installed should remain playable, but it has not published a general, verified way to recover a lost installation after its download servers close.
