Fact-check date: October 11, 2026. Prices are US manufacturer suggested retail prices, not guaranteed local checkout prices. The Sports Resort bundle has not launched yet.
The $529.99 Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle costs $20 less than the $549.99 Mario Kart World bundle, but Sports Resort does not list handheld play. That is a more important difference if you plan to use your Switch 2 away from the TV. Both bundles include a digital game download and three months of Nintendo Switch Online Individual, not a physical cartridge. The standard US console costs $499.99 without either game. The Sports Resort bundle launches on October 22. Nintendo’s official bundle announcement | Sports Resort play modes
An older $499.99 Choose Your Game bundle could be a better deal if a retailer still has it. It lets you pick one of three games, but it was advertised as a limited-time offer, so do not assume it is in stock. Nintendo’s Choose Your Game announcement
Which Nintendo Switch 2 bundle should you buy?
| Your situation | Best place to start | Reason / check before buying |
|---|---|---|
| You want Mario Kart World and can find the older Choose Your Game bundle at $499.99 | Choose Your Game, if truly in stock | You can select Mario Kart World at the standalone console’s current US MSRP, but there is no confirmed included three-month online membership |
| You want Mario Kart World and online play | $549.99 Mario Kart World bundle | The game and three months of Individual Nintendo Switch Online come together. Check stock and whether you already have a subscription |
| You want motion-control sports played on a TV or tabletop | $529.99 Sports Resort bundle, from October 22 | Saves against the separate US MSRPs, but the game does not list handheld play |
| You mostly play with the console in your hands | Mario Kart World or console only | Mario Kart World supports handheld mode; Sports Resort’s supported modes are TV and tabletop only |
| You already own the game or do not want either featured title | Console only | Avoid paying for a bundled digital entitlement with little or no value to you |
| You have a Nintendo Switch Online Family membership | Compare game-only value first | The included Individual membership cannot simply be added to your Family membership |
These are conditional buying recommendations based on Nintendo’s published product terms. They are not claims about which retailer currently has stock. Mario Kart bundle | Sports Resort bundle | Family membership code restrictions
Compare the four US purchase routes
| Purchase route | US listed price | Included game | Included Nintendo Switch Online | Important limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Switch 2 console | $499.99 MSRP | None | None | Buy the games and membership you actually want |
| Choose Your Game, SKU 128060 | $499.99 advertised offer | Select one: Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza or Pokémon Pokopia | No 90-day membership advertised | Limited-time retailer stock; product includes a Choose One download code |
| Mario Kart World bundle, SKU 128067 | $549.99 MSRP | Mario Kart World, full digital download | 3-month Individual membership | Nintendo’s own store may show unavailable; check actual retailers |
| Sports Resort bundle, SKU 129088 | $529.99 MSRP | Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, full digital download | 3-month Individual membership | Releases October 22; game supports TV/tabletop, not handheld |
Nintendo raised the standard US Switch 2 console MSRP from $449.99 to $499.99 on September 1, 2026. This matters when comparing older bundle marketing with current prices. Nintendo’s price revision | Choose Your Game details
The older Choose Your Game offer deserves a quick stock check. Nintendo says it contains a printed Choose One download code for one of the three games. The new Mario Kart and Sports Resort product pages instead confirm a full digital download without settling which of Nintendo’s two general bundled-game redemption methods each SKU uses. Do not assume those game entitlements are interchangeable. Nintendo bundle-code details | Nintendo’s digital-bundle FAQ
How much do the newer bundles actually save?
Nintendo’s US comparisons use separate manufacturer suggested retail prices, not today’s best retail offers:
| Calculation | Separate US MSRP total | Bundle MSRP | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Console ($499.99) + Mario Kart World ($79.99) + 3-month Online ($7.99) | $587.97 | $549.99 | $37.98 |
| Console ($499.99) + Sports Resort ($49.99) + 3-month Online ($7.99) | $557.97 | $529.99 | $27.98 |
These totals match Nintendo’s announced savings. Actual savings change if a retailer discounts a game or console, or if you would never have purchased the online membership. Nintendo announcement | Nintendo Online US membership prices
If the three-month membership has no value to you, comparing just the console and the wanted game reduces the apparent price advantage to $29.99 for the Mario Kart bundle or $19.99 for Sports Resort at those same separate MSRPs. This is buying-decision arithmetic, not a different Nintendo promotion.
There is an important historical trap with Choose Your Game. Nintendo advertised savings of up to $29.99 when that offer launched, before the standalone console’s September price increase. If you can genuinely buy the old bundle for $499.99 today, it may give you a $69.99 or $79.99 game at the same checkout price as the currently listed bare-console MSRP. That is a conditional value comparison, not a claim that stock exists or that a shopper can resell an unwanted code. Choose Your Game announcement | Switch 2 price revision
Handheld players should check Sports Resort’s supported modes
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is a motion-control sports game with 12 activities. Nintendo’s game listing identifies TV mode and tabletop mode as supported, but not handheld mode. The console itself is portable; this particular game is not listed for play while you hold the console with attached controllers. If handheld play is your priority, that is a stronger reason to skip the Sports Resort bundle than its $20 lower price versus Mario Kart. Sports Resort game details
Sports Resort supports one to four players on one console according to Nintendo’s listing, but that does not mean the two Joy-Con 2 controllers included with a new console will accommodate every four-player activity. Nintendo warns that multiplayer may require additional accessories. The controller requirements can differ by sport, so check the activity you intend to play before buying extra controllers or promising a four-player setup. Sports Resort bundle specifications | Sports Resort game listing
Mario Kart World, by contrast, lists handheld, tabletop and TV play. It is the more flexible game choice if you want to race on the sofa, on the move or on a television. Online features require the appropriate account, connection and membership. Mario Kart bundle game specifications
Does the included three-month Online membership help you?
The new Mario Kart and Sports Resort bundles include a Nintendo Switch Online Individual membership for 90 days. Nintendo currently lists the separate US three-month Individual plan at $7.99. That membership can add value if you intend to race online, use supported online features, or use GameChat. Since Nintendo’s GameChat open-access period ended March 31, 2026, GameChat now requires a membership along with a Nintendo Account and internet connection. Nintendo membership prices | Nintendo GameChat FAQ
If you play only offline, the membership may be worth little to you. If you already have a matching Individual plan, Nintendo generally lets you extend that plan, within its extension limits. If you are covered by a Family membership, Nintendo says an Individual membership download code cannot be redeemed while you remain covered by that Family plan. Nintendo’s help page for membership redemption error 2811-6056 says Nintendo Switch Online membership codes do not expire. That guidance does not confirm the specific insert and region conditions for either new bundle. Check the terms included with your purchase before relying on future redemption. Nintendo membership help | Family-plan redemption error
Nintendo warns that the three-month membership automatically renews after its initial term unless canceled. Nintendo’s support instructions say to switch off auto-renewal at least 48 hours before expiry. Review the activation and renewal confirmation when you redeem the code; do not assume opening the console box itself starts a charge. Bundle membership terms | Auto-renewal instructions
For families with children, a membership alone does not make GameChat immediately usable. Players under 16 and supervised users need Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app setup and parent-approved friends, along with GameChat’s other account and verification requirements. That is worth reviewing before promising voice or video chat as part of the bundle’s value. Nintendo parental GameChat guide
Check which account receives the digital game
Neither new bundle advertises a game cartridge. Nintendo’s general support information distinguishes two ways a console-bundled full game can be provided: a redemption code or a game registered to a Nintendo Account when accessing the Nintendo eShop. The exact game-claim method has not been independently confirmed for US Mario Kart bundle SKU 128067 or Sports Resort SKU 129088. Follow the instructions that actually come with your box. Nintendo digital-game bundle FAQ
Before claiming a digital game, choose the Nintendo Account that should own it. Nintendo says a game claimed or purchased on one account cannot be transferred to another Nintendo Account. For the registration-based bundle method, Nintendo also warns that an account that already purchased the game cannot register the same title again. These rules are especially important for gift buyers and families sharing a console. They do not prove that every code-based bundle has the same duplicate-ownership behavior. Nintendo digital-game FAQ | Nintendo account transfer rule
Do not assume the extra game can be gifted, transferred or redeemed by another member of the household. First check the actual insert or on-console claim screen for your specific bundle.
Importing a US bundle? Verify the codes, not just the hardware
These prices and SKUs apply to the United States. Nintendo’s other regional announcements can have different bundle launch dates, prices and terms. For example, Nintendo UK’s 2026 announcement lists its Mario Kart World bundle for October 29, rather than the September 18 release shown for US SKU 128067. Nintendo UK announcement | US Mario Kart SKU
Game-download codes and Nintendo Switch Online membership codes can carry region restrictions. Nintendo expressly documents limitations on using membership codes across different American market groups. Before importing a US bundle, verify the enclosed code’s eligible region, the intended Nintendo Account or eShop country and any retailer return restrictions. Do not assume that a digital entitlement will redeem merely because the physical console can be used in another country. Nintendo membership code guidance
The short buying checklist
- Choose the game you want. If neither bundle game interests you, start with console only.
- Check play mode. Sports Resort lists TV/tabletop only; Mario Kart World includes handheld support.
- Check real stock and checkout cost. The older Choose Your Game offer is limited, while Nintendo’s store can show some newer bundles unavailable.
- Review your Online plan. The included 90 days is an Individual membership, not automatically an extension to a Family plan.
- Claim the game carefully. Confirm your exact bundle’s code/registration method and choose the intended Nintendo Account.
- Check regions and peripherals. Imported code eligibility and sports-specific multiplayer controller needs can alter the real cost.
If you are upgrading from the original Nintendo Switch, IGZ’s Nintendo Switch 2 Upgrade & Compatibility Checker can help you research selected game upgrade and compatibility cases. It does not verify bundle codes, retailer stock or your entire game library.
Bottom line: If you find the older Choose Your Game bundle at its advertised $499.99 price and want one of its three games, compare that offer first. Otherwise, the Mario Kart World bundle is a sensible fit for people who want racing across handheld and TV modes, while Sports Resort suits buyers seeking motion-control activities on a TV or tabletop. The standard console remains the better starting point if you want different games, already own the bundled game, or cannot use the included membership.
